    I'm back!

    Hey there, long time no blog! Well, I'm back on the wagon and doing a very good job so far! No carbs for me! Finished my semester in school and getting back to the gym!     Getting back on track!

    So I am getting back on track, doing better in the gym and I lost 3 more lbs. since my last cardiology appt. I went to see the cardiologist and got a clean bill of healthOpen-mouthed. My heart is o.k. so now we will investigate other sources for my symptoms. For now I am just taking one day at a time. I have also been to the tanning bed, getting ready for vacation! We are going to Myrtle beach the week of the 24th!Wink

    Gearing up for vacation!

    I am leaving for Myrtle Beach on 02/23! I can't wait! I am doing much better on my diet and getting my health back in line! Please help hold me accountable by leaving me messages and checking on my progress! I need this in my life. I will try, no I am going to the gym tomorrow! Please ask me how it went, knowing I have to account for myself helps to motivate me. I just started working in a new office and my accountablity partner in the diet arena is not there to help me. Melissa is her name and she would literally take food out of my hand and throw it away if it was not something good for me!Baring teeth Made me mad as he** at the time, but, I love her. Thank you Melissa for your assistance, I love and miss you!Wink

    Day (I lost count!)

    I can't believe how long its been since I blogged here!Surprised I have been so busy, with cardiac monitors, physical therapy for neck spasms, the flu, school, the gym, work, and kids that I just lost track of time. I am faily well maintaining my weight but, loss is not coming easily. I know I need to tweek some things to move the process along, I just can't seem to get there! Dad is not able to work out with me now b/c he thinks he may have ruptured another disk in his back.Sad I will just have to work harder for both of us. I will do better about keeping posted! I am so proud of all of my friends who are sticking with it and losing like crazy, thanks for all your support and as always, God bless you and good luck!

    Day 34

    I'm a month into this and not doing as well as I would like. I am trying to take my cardiologist advice and do longer cardio sessions with a little less intensity, but, old habits die hard! I am working in a different office this week with a different doctor and my routine has suffered a little. I gotta get back on track! I have discovered that the Progresso 0 point soup is pretty darn good!Tongue out

    Day 28

    Today wasn't real eventful. Yesterday, I didn't get off work till almost 8pm and then I went to the gym. I only got to see my family for about 30 mins. before they went to bed, that sucked!Disappointed I did go to my cardiologist yesterday and he wants me to do 40 mins. of lower intensity cardio instead of 30 mins of high intensity cardio. Also he checked my thyroid and is making me wear an event monitor for 3 weeks, uggh! I should be able to work out with this though, there was also mention of a sleep study in the future. Well, like I said, today not very eventful, but, yesterday was crazy! Now I have to study for a test in Microbiology and A & P II, both are due no later than tomorrow, yeah!Sarcastic I'll keep you all posted. P.S. Dad is still doing well, gone to Smithville right now to visit my grandad (AKA his dad).

    Day 24

    Well, yesterday was pretty darn awesome! I did not eat anything that I shouldn't have, kept my calories less that 1200 and went to the gym with dad and worked out! The best part of all is that Dad lost 18 lbs.!Open-mouthed I am so proud of him! I can't believe how well he has done! It was a major motivator for me to see him lose that much! I will succeed for him and for myself!Wink Life is good!

    Each day continues to be a struggle. I did, however, make it to the gym today and walked/ran 2.15miles and burned over 300calories. I also did some strength training. I just have to figure out a way to not eat any junk all day long, one day at a time. Wish me luck.

    My stamina is waivering! Please anyone who has any words of encouragement or advise, please share!Disappointed My diet is falling apart (had Moe's for lunch and McDonald's for dinner) and my excercise has become less than routine! I gotta get it together! Please someone help! I will log on tomorrow to let you know what happened.

    Sorry its been so long since I've posted! I've started back to school and been feeling a little sick lately. I got a holter monitor put on today, it was fun working out with this thing on!Sarcastic Oh well, its just 24 hours, I'll live. I did crappy on my diet today, didn't do much to make myself proud in that area! I hope tomorrow is better!Sad Say a little prayer for me! Dad and I have been going to the mall and walking, he is doing much better and keeping me motivated to walk and work hard. I hope tomorrow I will make him proud!

    I did pretty well on my diet today. I did have a gravy biscuit for breakfast b/c me and my sons met my husband at his work for an employee appreciation breakfast, but, believe it or not I did so well the rest of the day and at the gym that I did not even feel guilty! Maybe I am learning to live in the real world with making a pig of myself!Sarcastic

    Well, made it through another day and did not make any unwise decisions! I did not go to the gym today b/c of tornado warnings, but, I will go downstairs and do some cruches, stretches, and leg lifts before bed!Wink Well, thanks for stopping in! Best wishes to you all and good health!

    Day 8

    Yay! This is the first day that I have not cheated on my diet at all! I mean nipa, nota, zilch! Dad and I also went to the gym today and had a very good work out! Dad walked 0.58miles on the treadmill, which is a huge thing for him, to go from 0 exercise to walking a half mile in 15 mins. is a tremendous leap! I can already feel the difference in my stamina. Our weights today were a little disappointing, I'm hoping its b/c we're building muscle. Dad weighed 344 lbs. and I weighed 238. Well I'll keep ya posted! Thanks for stopping by!     Day 5

    Hey everyone, hope you had a good week! Mine was pretty good, I managed to drink a lot more water than usual, about 60-80oz per day, which compared to my 0oz before is pretty darn impressive! I also worked out every day this week, with the exeption of New Years Day b/c the gym was, as you all know closed! Dad got back in the gym with me today, finally able to move again after our first rather intense work out! I am really feeling pretty good about my chances for success, but, we shall see what the future holds! Again, I will get work out picsCamera soon, I just don't want to run around in the gym looking like a tourist, even if I feel like one sometimes! LOL!Open-mouthed

    Day 2

    Well, day two was actually easier for the most part. I did really well on my diet only eating about 500 calories before dinner. I find that the most difficult thing for me is not eating junk when I get home.  I have to do better at home if I am going to succeed. I talked to Dad today, he's not hurting yet like I thought he might be, his arms were sore though, especially his right one b/c he is left handed. I will get work out pics of us on here soon. Please be patient with me, work is kinda hectic this week b/c its that time of year, everyone is sick and we were closed for a couple days. Please feel free to give any health advice or tips on how to do better with my diet when I'm at home. Thanks for taking time to follow my journey!

    My long journey to fitness!

    Hi everyone! My name is Karen and I started this page to journal my road to a more healthy, active, and fulfilling lifestyle. Today I started my day at the gym at 6:30am, which for anyone who knows me, knows this is a major accomplishment in itself! My dad/work out partner and I went to work out again at 6pm this evening. All went well. My dad suffers from severe degenerative disk disease and has become relative sedentary due to his disability. I am hoping that together we can both beat the battle of the bulge and become more healthy and happy. I think that my diet is going to be my most difficult struggle. I did really good all day then I had a piece of pizza when my aunt came home with a whole pizza and no one to eat it (what a shame to waste good food!). I have to get a handle on this or it will literally be the death of me. I know that I am not an obese person on the inside, I just have to find a way to overcome my hang ups! Wish me luck. By the way my starting weight is 242 lbs. (please don't tell anyone!) Tommy's weight (AKA "Dad") is 345 lbs.
